Blind Pianoist Liu Hao Received Giveback Award
StoneCube Art Association proudly announces its first “Giveback Award” recipient, Hao Liu - a blind pianist from JHU - Peabody Institute.
“Giveback Award” encourages and cultivates civic-mindedness and inspires give-back action among artists. This award honors Robert Carr, a serial entrepreneur and the founder of the Giveback Foundation. This nonprofit has supported high school students facing financial hardship and obstacles to success through scholarship and mentorship, including those affected by foster care, homelessness, or parental incarceration, and sent them to college for free. "Light and Love" originated from a charity art exhibition by artist Chun Shi at 14 Nassau Street, Princeton. The event aims to raise funds for the "Melodic Vision Scholarship" at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. Inspired by the real-life story of blind Chinese pianist Liu Hao, this scholarship supports visually impaired music students studying at the Peabody Institute.
To extend the impact and raise more funds, pianist Liu Hao and artist Chun Shi will collaborate to hold a charity concert at the Princeton United Methodist Church. The event will showcase the universal themes of light and love through the combined expressions of music and art. Attendees are welcome to participate in this charitable initiative, contributing to the scholarship designed for visually impaired students and collectively illuminating their educational journeys.
